Women in Journalism (WIJ) is self-described as a “networking, campaigning, training and social organisation for women journalists who work across all the written media, from newspapers and magazines to the new media.” WIJ is a U.K. based membership organization offering a representation of the issues female journalist are facing across the pond. While the organization offers seminars, events and networking for students and working professionals it also conducts major research into issues dealing with women, the profession and other relevant topics in today’s news coverage. The website’s research page includes links to studies and articles published in major British publications. Some of the latest articles cover the topics of images of women in editorial content, the effects of media stereotyping on young men and boys and the coverage of British news written by male journalism about male subjects. The site also includes a page of the latest Women in Journalism news, events and membership information.
